What Is the Activator Technique and How Does it Work?

The Activator Technique is a chiropractic technique that focuses on manual manipulation. The treatment method uses an instrument that delivers low-amplitude, high velocity thrusts to make sure your body is in the proper alignment. It is similar to another technique called the Diversified Technique.

The Activator Technique uses an instrument that is handheld and uses a spring. That way, the chiropractor can deliver low-impulse force to specific points along the body. The goal of this instrument is to use high speed. That way, your muscles do not have time to resist the instrument, which can make the treatment more effective. Furthermore, this treatment option does not put the joint in any compromising position. You don't have to worry about any bending or twisting, as the applied force is localized.

What Can the Activator Technique Be Used To Treat?

There are several examples of injuries that we can treat using this technique. Some of the most common examples include:

  • If you have suffered Whiplash in a motor vehicle accident, this treatment technique could be used to help you.
  • If you have muscle stiffness or soreness, particularly if that soreness is located on the sides of the spine, you could benefit from the Activator Technique.
  • If you feel like your pelvis is a bit tight, we may be able to help you loosen it up using the Activator Technique.

One of the major benefits of working with our team is that we will always customize your treatment plan to meet yours specific needs.

The Activator Technique Can Be Grouped With Other Treatment Methods

To make sure we address all of your treatment concerns, we will couple the Activator Technique with a wide variety of other treatment methods. For example, we may recommend that you use the Activator Technique with physical therapy or massage therapy. Or, we might go through corrective exercises that can help you maximize the benefits of the Activator Technique. It would be our pleasure to help you.
